We used to brew an entire pot and throw away half of it so we are using less coffee. I use paper filters instead of the gold metal filter it comes with. That makes it easier to clean between cups. It looks nice on the counter even though its design is a bit old fashioned. The part that I also appreciate is that it is easy to clean. The entire burr grinder pops out to make it easy to wipe off oily coffee bean residue. The basket that holds the filer comes out very easily to dump between cups. I suggest purchasing a rolling tray to pull the machine out from under the cabinet. It does generate a bit of steam during brewing and it makes the water receptacle easier to reach. It if generates an error or refuses to brew, check yourself. It is probably stopping you from brewing the a second time into the filter basket or needs water or beans. Smart machine, just pay attention to it.

Customer Review: Update: after 4 months, this $500 machine is dead. What a disappointment! It won’t brew a full cup of coffee and constantly “thinks” it’s out of water even with a full tank. I have to keep pressing brew and then it only brews half a cup at most and leaves a disgusting explosion of coffee grounds and an overflowed waste water tank – leaving a huge mess. I have tried descaling and cleaning and nothing helps. DeLonghi customer support is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of. Their customer service number plays a recorded message then HANGS UP on you during normal business hours and their chat bot just errors out and exits the chat without connecting to a human. What a total joke! Makes great coffee and an overall fantastic idea for those looking for single serve without the cost of nespresso, plastic contamination of keurig, etc; however several design flaws 1) the preground coffee feature (which I’ve tried to use for decaf) — does not work. The machine brews a small amount, then says it’s out of water (there’s plenty of water in the tank) and have to keep pressing start just for a few more drops to come out.
