Customer Reviews

This Ninja single serve coffee maker has been such a smart purchase for our household. My teen loves those expensive coffee shop drinks, and I really wanted to show him that he can make something just as good at home without constantly spending his hard earned money. He actually invested in this machine himself (even found an open box deal that looked brand new and saved a few extra bucks), and it has absolutely paid off. We’re easily saving over $1,000 a year making coffee at home and honestly, it’s been fun experimenting with all the different options. What really sets this machine apart is the versatility. It’s not just a basic coffee maker it truly feels like having a coffee shop at home. There’s an espresso option for quick, strong shots (which Dad loves), a cold brew setting that’s perfect for iced drinks (a huge win for my teen), and even a built in frother on the side so you can make those café style drinks right at home. You can also use pods for convenience or brew your own coffee, which gives you total flexibility. The machine itself is sturdy, reliable, and the perfect size and we don’t have to fill up the Water reserve too often and really well made unlike the other popular brand name starting with a K which I won’t name ! It’s exactly what I’ve come to expect from Ninja. We own several of their products, and they consistently deliver great quality and value. This has been one of those purchases that truly makes a difference long term. If you’re looking to save money, cut back on daily coffee runs, and still enjoy high quality drinks with lots of options, I highly recommend it.

We love it! It brews great coffee and quite fast! I love the frother. It works well. I also appreciate that I can also brew my own coffee, rather than Kcops. We use both. We love the strength options and cup size choice. I like my coffee strong while my husband like classic strength. We have not tried the iced coffee option yet, but will this summer. The space-saving size was perfect for my coffe bar! This is a great product.

Customer Reviews

I read all of the reviews before purchasing. Amazon stated it was a frequently returned item and the reviews shared that too. I bought this coffee maker anyway and I’m so glad I did. Yes there can be a few random coffee grounds left behind and it does drip coffee after I remove my cup… but this coffee maker makes up for those little inconveniences… it brews super fast,, I can choose up to 16 ounces for my travel mug or make a whole pot. It’s the best machine I’ve ever used! So do yourself a favor, buy this and change your morning routine to a less stressful one… you won’t regret it

I just love this three-way brew coffee pot in white. I love to be able to make a full pot, and 1-cup pod, AND 1-cup regular grounds when I’m out of pods. So nice to have the choice between pods and grounds for the 1-cup. I love the white color, and for some reason it was cheaper than the black. I’ve made 1 full pot, and 1 cup with pod so far and seems to work beautifully. Full pot brews in 10 minutes, 1 cup in 3 minutes. Pause brew is simple to set by holding pause brew while setting the desired brew time. I’m crossing my fingers that this pot lasts and lasts. Size is good. I thougt it would be larger, but it’s exactly 1 pot and 1 cup combined size, with the full machine right around 11″ wide total. I’m really pleased with this purchase. After owning this for 4 months, the one-cup brewing side is broke. When I try to brew a pod I get an error message saying “overload.” When I remove the pod and try just brewing straight water, I get the same error message, “overload.” There is no pod in place so what is making it “overload?” Very, very dissapointed. I no longer have the box to return this item because I believed it would continue to work. I am hoping the seller will send a replacement coffee machine without the need for me to return the malfunctioning coffee machine.

Customer Reviews

We love this coffee maker! Our K-brand (you know the one) single cup maker was annoying and finally gave up on us. We still wanted the option for single serve, but also the carafe because my husband and I drink a large amount of coffee during the work week. The delay brew setting is wonderful, coffee is ready before we even step foot into the kitchen in the morning. The K cup holder is great, the whole housing comes out, so you don’t even need to grab the little pod, you can just dump it right out of the housing. And the option to brew single serve fresh ground coffee? Amazing. The K-brand pods to use your own coffee are a nightmare, but the Hamilton Beach single serve grounds basket is easy and LARGE.The coffee tastes so much better and so far, it’s been easy to clean, but I haven’t had it long enough to descale it yet. Takes up just a little more room than our old one, but it’s shaped better so it fits on our counter more easily.

The media could not be loaded. “Didn’t you just get that two months ago?!”That’s what my son just said to me after I spent the better part of two days… TWO DAYS … attempting to resolve the dreaded “nEEDLE” error on the single serve side.Of course, the return window closed a couple weeks ago. Of course. It’s not that the needles needed replacing or that they were clogged. I cleaned both – top and bottom needles – thoroughly. They are piercing just fine. And it’s not the brand of cups being used. We have a variety of brands from a variety of sources. It’s the machine. See video. It brews about an ounce or two then suddenly starts hissing and puffing out steam from all openings, ending with an impressive blow-out of steam and loud hissing, accompanied by a burst of ground-filled water. It’s about half an ounce but it contains enough grounds to cover the bottom of the coffee cup.And then there is a blinking blue light on the “brew/power” button. My son reminded me that our previous machines went out in a similarly hiss/steam blaze of glory. I guess because they lasted a few years, I didn’t pay attention to how they ended up giving up the ghost. I just attributed it to them being a few years old and replaced them. This is a few MONTHS old. Bought at the end of April 2025. And it’s now the end of June 2025.As much as I have felt loyalty to this machine for more than a decade … I agree with my son: it’s possible it’s just not made as good as the previous versions were.PREVIOUS REVIEW:This is such a great system. I am honestly a fan of the dual brew going back years to when it was first released. I bought her (what, 10 years ago?) and it lasted until a few months ago, when she started refusing to acknowledge we had cleaned it whenever we tried to use the single-serve side. She was done. Period. She still brews carafes just fine, so she went to my husband’s work site because no one brews single-serve coffee there.I made the mistake of trying a few other systems because some of my family wanted something that makes cold coffee, but after a few months of packing up and returning them all, one by one, I just bought this and told the family to take whatever coffee is left over in the carafe at the end of the day and pour it into a jar and put in the fridge. Voila, cold coffee… OG style. I mean, as a former newspaper editor, I was drinking cold coffee before it was a thing. Pour a cup of coffee, sit down to your desk and then the phone rings and someone knocks on the door… And four hours later, you sit back down and you have cold coffee. IT’S NOT THAT HARD and does not require an expensive machine to get done. Geesh.Anyway…This is a great system, as I knew it would be.I do like the larger reservoir for the single serve side – it lets me get a few decent size mugs from it.It brews a nice hot mug of coffee. I am able to put an average travel mug under the single serve dispenser but you do have to remove the pedestal to do that. I don’t use the pedestal because we have tall mugs and the coffee doesn’t splatter out while brewing like it does in shorter mugs.I like the addition of the brew strength choice – regular or bold. The bold makes it just right for a coffee. That option is there for both carafe and single serve use.You also get to choose the size of the mug on the single serve – going up to 14 ounce. That’s that we use for our Contigo travel mugs.It gets the coffee hot and brews pretty quickly, which is good in mornings. Now, for context – this is sitting next to a $1000 fully-automated espresso machine that we use for fussy drinks. So, the fact we would spend that kind of money for an espresso machine should show you that we are buying for results – not cost savings. And the Hamilton Beach Dual Brew is our choice for quality results. The fact it’s affordable is a bonus.

Complete Buying Guide for Combination Coffee Maker And Single Serve

Essential Factors We Consider

When evaluating combination coffee makers, we focus on several key aspects that determine overall performance and user satisfaction. First, brewing versatility is crucial – can the machine handle both pods and grounds? Second, consider reservoir capacity and brewing speeds. Third, assess build quality and ease of cleaning. Finally, evaluate additional features like programmable timers, strength controls, and specialized brew settings that enhance your daily coffee experience.

Budget Planning

Combination coffee makers range significantly in price from under $50 for basic models to over $200 for premium systems. Budget-conscious buyers should consider entry-level models like the Tastyle or basic Hamilton Beach options, which offer essential functionality at affordable prices. Mid-range options (around $100-$150) typically provide better build quality and more features, while premium models (above $150) deliver superior performance, advanced features, and professional-grade results. Remember to factor in ongoing costs like pods or filters when calculating total ownership expenses.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right combination coffee maker ultimately depends on your specific needs, kitchen space, and coffee preferences. Whether you prioritize speed, versatility, or premium features, there’s a model that will fit your lifestyle. The best combination coffee makers eliminate the need for multiple appliances while delivering consistent, high-quality results for both single serve and full pot brewing scenarios.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What’s the difference between a combination coffee maker and a single serve brewer?

A: A combination coffee maker offers both single serve (typically using pods or small amounts of grounds) and full pot brewing capabilities in one unit. Single serve brewers only handle individual cups, usually requiring K-Cup pods, while combination models provide greater flexibility for households with varying coffee needs.

Q: Can combination coffee makers use both K-Cups and ground coffee?

A: Many modern combination coffee makers are designed to accept both K-Cup pods and ground coffee. Look for models specifically marketed as “dual brew” or “pod and grounds compatible” to ensure this versatility. Always check the manufacturer’s specifications before purchasing.

Q: How often do I need to clean a combination coffee maker?

A: Most combination coffee makers benefit from monthly cleaning to prevent mineral buildup and maintain optimal performance. Some models have automatic cleaning reminders, while others require manual descaling every 2-3 months depending on water hardness and usage frequency. Always follow the manufacturer’s cleaning recommendations.

Q: Are combination coffee makers more expensive to operate than single serve models?

A: Generally, combination coffee makers can be more economical in the long run since they eliminate the need for multiple appliances and reduce waste from unused single serve pods. However, if you primarily drink single cups, a dedicated single serve machine might be more cost-effective. Consider your typical usage patterns when comparing operating costs.

Q: Do combination coffee makers save counter space?

A: Yes, combination coffee makers typically save significant counter space compared to owning separate single serve and drip coffee makers. Their integrated design allows you to enjoy both brewing methods in one compact unit, making them ideal for small kitchens or apartments where space is at a premium.

Finding the perfect combination coffee maker and single serve brewer means discovering a solution that adapts to your lifestyle rather than forcing you to adapt to the machine. Whether you’re drawn to the premium features of the Pantrymade dual brew, the versatile brewing of the Ninja Specialty, or the budget-friendly reliability of the Cuisinart SS-16, each of these top-rated models delivers exceptional value and performance. Take the time to assess your daily coffee habits, kitchen space constraints, and desired features to select the model that will become your kitchen’s new favorite appliance. With the right combination coffee maker, you’ll enjoy the convenience of single serve brewing when you need it while maintaining the ability to make full pots for guests or busy mornings when required. Your perfect morning brew awaits – it’s time to upgrade from basic to brilliant.
