Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I bought this for my daughter to put in her bedroom so she wouldn’t have to go back to the kitchen for ice for a drink while in the bath or watching late night TV.
It WORKS! Its amazing! You put water in it, plug it in and turn it on. In 7 or 8 minutes…. Clunk clunk clunk…. IT MAKES ICE! About 8 or 9 small cubes. Yeah, they’re not as big as you will find in your kitchen freezer, but… great for a drink or two!
NOW… the ONLY strange downside — there is no ‘freezer compartment’ in this little device, beyond the one that MAKES the ice. The ice drops down into a small tray, and then….. and then….. it MELTS! It melts back into the hopper/container for WATER! And… it goes around again and makes ice again! So… after a while, it picks up dirt, dust, germs, spores, mold, whatever is floating around in the air, and puts it back into the ice. ; Same ice same water, over and over!
Customer Review: I was going to leave a bad review, but after using it a few times, I figured out how to get the best from this little machine. What I learned is that it takes a couple of cycles before the machine is operating at its best. So, the first few dumps, I just let the ice fall back into the water reservoir. After that, this thing hums along and makes perfect ice. It works much, much better than my freezer ice maker or filling ice trays. Plus I can use filtered water (which I highly recommend). Every four or five cycles, I gently shake the water out of the basket and dump the basket into my freezer ice reservoir. I use the scoop to stir the ice around in my freezer to keep it from sticking together. I just let the ice maker run for two or three hours and I have enough to last me a week or two. If I get distracted with something and the basket fills up, it will shut down and wait for me to empty it. The ice can be in there for a while without melting. Very happy with this ice maker.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: Everything works as advertised. The white sticker for cup placement is annoying to remove, but I used goo-gone to remove the gluey residue and everything works well as it should! Ice maker is a breeze and instructions and care is straight-forward. Worth the money!
Customer Review: Do not buy until they remove supper ugly cup replacement sticker right at water dispensing place. The sticker is hard to remove. No good reason for that sticker. After spending about 60 minutes to remove using hot water soaking and even acetone. That 4 inch by 4 inch ugly glue still stays. It’s insane and I am upset. But yet not returning the unit. Everything else appears to be flawless so far. Noise is also not too loud. I don’t believe anybody would keep with that sticker on at home, keeping aside at business place.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I recently purchased the Newair Portable Ice Maker, and it has quickly become an indispensable appliance in my kitchen. This compact countertop ice maker produces up to 50 pounds of ice daily, with 12 cubes ready in under 7 minutes, making it perfect for both home and office use.
First and foremost, the speed and efficiency of this ice maker are impressive. Within just a few minutes of turning it on, I had fresh ice cubes ready to use. The ability to produce 12 cubes in under 7 minutes is a game-changer, especially during gatherings or hot summer days when the demand for ice is high. The machine consistently produces ice quickly, ensuring that we never run out.
Customer Review: The icemaker on my refrigerator went out. Actually the line that chewed by a mouse. I ordered this as a replacement. it is so far superior to a refrigerator based icemaker that there is no comparison It continues to make ice with minimal maintenance superb design and many many useful features. It is insulated so it keeps the ice pretty much intact although it eventually thaws but there is always fresh ice. I ordered this and it didn’t work I talked to the company and they determined that the internal pump was bad. These pumps were backordered until October. I had bought the unit at the Amazon warehouse for a substantial discount. Rather than return it I requested that the company replace it and the company has sent me a brand-new icemaker! They are a delight to work with. They are truly a class act company and I would recommend any of their products without any hesitation. I have been using the first icemaker I bought in the kitchen and the replacement will actually go in the shop.
To reiterate, this makes refrigerator based icemaker’s look like a child’s toy. It is a remarkable well-designed well-made piece of equipment that sits on the countertop requiring only occasional water. It is easy to clean out easy to maintain quiet end effective and I just don’t have enough superlatives to say about both the icemaker and the company. By the way, I have used two lesser icemakers ordered from Amazon over the last couple of years and there is not even the remotest comparison. This is not the cheapest model but it is by far the best value
Complete Buying Guide for Countertop Ice Maker With Water Line
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating the best countertop ice makers with water lines, we prioritize performance, durability, and user experience. Key factors include ice production speed (measured in cubes per batch), total daily output (lbs/day), connectivity type (direct water line vs. removable tank), noise levels, energy efficiency, and ease of cleaning. We also assess build quality, warranty coverage, and compatibility with standard household plumbing.
Budget Planning
Entry-level models typically range from $150–$250 and suit light users or secondary kitchens. Mid-range units ($250–$400) offer better build quality and faster production, ideal for medium households. Premium models ($400+) provide commercial-grade performance, multiple ice styles, and integrated features like hot water dispensers. Always factor in installation costs if running a dedicated water line—this can add $50–$150 depending on plumber rates and existing infrastructure.
Final Thoughts
The ideal countertop ice maker with water line depends on your usage needs, kitchen layout, and lifestyle. For most homes, the Silonn or Frigidaire models strike the best balance between price and performance. If you crave restaurant-style nuggets, invest in a Typhur or Silonn pellet machine. For high-volume environments, the NewAir 50lb model delivers unmatched output. Remember: connecting to a water line means less refilling but may require professional setup. Choose wisely, and enjoy endless fresh ice!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I install a countertop ice maker with a water line?
A: Installation usually requires attaching a flexible feed tube from the ice maker’s inlet to an under-sink cold water shut-off valve. A saddle valve or full-port ball valve is recommended for safety. Some models include adapters; otherwise, consult a licensed plumber. Always turn off water supply before starting.
Q: Can I use tap water or does it need filtered water?
A: Most modern ice makers are designed to use standard municipal tap water. However, using a water filter (like a fridge-compatible pitcher or under-sink system) extends appliance life and improves ice taste by reducing minerals and contaminants.
Q: How often should I clean my ice maker?
A: Use the built-in self-cleaning cycle monthly or whenever you notice odor or slow performance. For deep cleaning, wipe interior surfaces with a vinegar-water solution quarterly. Never use harsh chemicals or abrasive sponges.
Q: Will these models fit under my kitchen cabinets?
A: Most countertop ice makers measure between 10–14 inches tall. Standard base cabinet heights are 34–36 inches, so clearance is generally sufficient. Measure your space and check product dimensions before purchasing.
Q: Do they work with reverse osmosis systems?
A: Yes, but low-mineral water from RO systems can cause scaling in some compressors. If using RO water regularly, consider models with anti-scale filters or periodic mineral boosts to prevent buildup.
In conclusion, selecting the best countertop ice maker with water line transforms how you enjoy beverages—whether it’s crisp iced coffee, chilled wine, or party-ready cocktails. From compact designs perfect for apartments to high-capacity units built for entertaining, there’s a model tailored to every need. Brands like Silonn, Frigidaire, and Typhur lead the market with innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Don’t settle for store-bought ice or outdated freezer trays—invest in a quality machine that delivers convenience, speed, and superior taste. Browse our top picks above and find your perfect match today. Your future self (and thirsty guests) will thank you!
