Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I have setup water supply lines for a number of refrigerators in my day, most often with those ‘vampire taps’ that pierce the copper tube. This sharkbite connector blows them all away. This was the fastest, easiest, most leakproof install ever. No welding, soldering, gluing, taping, or putty. It just slides on and makes a perfect watertight seal. these things also typically leak at the connector to the fridge, but not this on because it uses the same sharkbite system to hook up to the connector to the fridge. totally leakproof, yet it just slips on. Whoever invented this is genius. Wanna hook up your own refrigerator supply, get this kit. Also get the sharkbite deburr tool with it as it deburrs (cleans the pipe edge) and acts as a depth gauge marker so you can’t possibly make a mistake. It’s so amazing it makes me wonder if the sharkbite people didn’t invent a time machine and steal this technology from the future. Get it. You’ll love it.”

Customer Review: “Love the SharkBite products and they make things so easy for the at home DIYer. This very easily replaced a leaking saddle valve for the water and ice on my fridge. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “This review is for the Lifevant 12 pcs various connector, tubing cutter, and tubing kit.I was looking for a good combination of connectors and a length of 1/4” quick connect water line tubing. This set was almost exactly what I wanted. I couldn’t find a set that included the frequently needed 1/4” npt straight or right angle QC 1/4” fitting. Oddly those seem to be in sets of 5 or more as a separate purchase. Given I rarely need to use a coupler for connecting two ends of the tubing I would have been glad to swap the 3 that came in this kit for a pair of straight and right angle npt fittings. Fortunately my neighbor had the one straight fitting I needed to finish my project.Aside from that deficiency, most of the kits I looked at don’t offer a 3-way valve in the set. Not something usually needed with a RO installation; but in my non-RO application it was required so I ordered a pair separately. This set includes 10 meters of 1/4” tubing which was more than enough for my application. The set also includes a nicely made tubing cutter with a locking closed safety feature. While it could be used in one hand I found placing it on a solid surface for stability made my cuts more consistent.I used several of the parts and tubing for a back flush setup and most of the other pieces for a bypass function on a UVC filter (don’t want unfiltered water going into the UVC during back wash). All the fittings and tubing worked as expected and I had no leaks. Work of advice: make a mark 15mm from end of the tubing that goes into a fitting so you know for sure it’s fully seated. Since I adopted this approach I haven’t had any leaking (or blown out) tubing.Aside from my fingers just aren’t sticky enough to pick up the blue horseshoes (I have to slide them to edge of counter to get hold of them) I was able to install the clips with only a few flipping off and then the minute or two to locate and try again. I like the clip design to lock the tubing in – just wish the clips were easier to work with.Overall I found the kit to be the right number of parts and well made for my purposes. I’d highly recommend this kit if it includes most of what you need for your project.”

Customer Review: “Works fine. Fittings are quality made and no leaks.”

Complete Buying Guide for Ice Maker Water Line Kit For Pex

Essential Factors We Consider

When evaluating ice maker water line kits for PEX, we focus on five key criteria: compatibility, durability, ease of installation, included accessories, and safety certifications. First, ensure the kit works with your existing PEX, copper, or CPVC plumbing. Next, look for materials like brass fittings and food-grade PEX tubing that resist corrosion and last years. Installation simplicity matters—especially for renters or occasional DIYers. Kits with shut-off valves, cutters, and multiple connectors offer better long-term value. Finally, always choose NSF-certified products to guarantee potable water safety.

Budget Planning

Entry-level kits start around $20–$30 and typically include 8–10 feet of basic tubing with compression fittings. Mid-range options ($35–$60) add features like longer lengths (20–25 ft), braided hoses, or integrated valves. Premium models ($60+) use stainless steel, push-to-connect technology, and come with extras like cutters or multiple connector types. Remember: spending a bit more upfront often saves money later by preventing leaks, reworks, or premature replacements. If you’re doing a simple single-fridge install, a budget kit suffices. For complex setups or future-proofing, invest in a mid-to-high-end model.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right ice maker water line kit for PEX doesn’t have to be overwhelming. By focusing on your specific needs—whether it’s length, valve inclusion, or ease of use—you can find a solution that balances cost, performance, and longevity. Brands like SharkBite and Eastman lead the pack with reliable designs, while newer entrants like Lifevant offer excellent value. Whatever you choose, prioritize safety, compatibility, and customer feedback to make a smart, lasting investment in your home’s plumbing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I use a PEX ice maker kit with copper pipes?

A: Yes! Many modern kits—especially those from SharkBite—are designed to work with PEX, copper, and CPUC. Look for push-to-connect or compression fittings that explicitly list compatibility with all three materials.

Q: Do I need a shut-off valve in my ice maker water line?

A: While not mandatory, a built-in shut-off valve greatly simplifies maintenance and repairs. It allows you to isolate the line without shutting off your entire house supply, reducing downtime and mess.

Q: How long should my ice maker water line be?

A: Standard kits range from 8 to 32 feet. Measure the distance from your shut-off valve under the sink to your refrigerator’s inlet before buying. Add a couple extra feet for flexibility, but avoid excessive length to prevent sagging or kinking.

Q: Are PEX water lines safe for drinking water?

A: Only if they’re labeled as NSF/ANSI 61 certified. Most reputable brands use BPA-free, food-grade PEX that meets strict safety standards for potable water applications.

Q: Can I reuse SharkBite fittings?

A: Yes! One of the biggest advantages of push-to-connect systems is that fittings can be removed and reused multiple times—provided the pipes remain undamaged and clean.

Upgrading your refrigerator’s water line doesn’t have to mean calling a plumber or dealing with messy soldering. With the right ice maker water line kit for PEX, you can achieve a secure, leak-free connection in under an hour. Whether you prioritize ease of installation, maximum length, or premium materials, our top-rated picks deliver reliable performance for years to come.
