Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I’ve only used a filtered water pitcher in the refrigerator, so I was excited to try this appliance for all temperatures of filtered water. I drink hot tea throughout the day, and it seems silly to heat refrigerated water just because it’s been filtered, so I end up using tap water. This reverse osmosis filter system by Jimmy gives me exactly the right temperature of water to instantly make tea, without heating an electric pot or using the microwave – and I know that all impurities have been filtered out.The unit is very heavy, and requires substantial space on your counter because of the large reservoir and the section to fill water pitchers. It’s worth it to me because I won’t have to refill the reservoir often, and I can get rid of my electric tea kettle. It would also replace an electric baby bottle warmer because it dispenses the ideal temperature of water to either make formula or heat stored milk. I also like the slimmer profile of the water pitchers because there’s no space taken up by a filtering system. It takes up much less room in the refrigerator than my current pitcher. The only thing this doesn’t do is make coffee, so brewed coffee drinkers will still need a coffeemaker on their counter.Everything about this filter system is well made, sturdy, and attractive with my other black counter appliances. The pitchers fit securely into the base for filling without leakage. I appreciate that the filters are easy to remove, and won’t need to be more often than every one or two years. The electronic settings are intuitive and work perfectly. There are multiple temperatures of filtered water dispensed through the “tap”, and you can set the volume of your container so you don’t have to hover nearby. It’ll stop according to your selection. As an American, I’m naturally annoyed that the volumes are metric, but it only took seconds to figure out the translation to cups/pints/quarts, etc.The filtered water tastes great, and I love knowing that every bit of water I’m drinking now has been purified, without purchasing bottled water. The price of around $500 for that peace of mind in a quality appliance is well worth it. There’s currently a 15% off discount making the price around $425. My husband is no longer going to buy bottled water, so that’s a huge savings. There are many other important uses for this filter system, like providing purified water to fill your coffeemaker, your pets’ bowls, the tank of your steam iron, and the watering can for plants. It’s so convenient having it at my fingertips on my counter, that now I don’t know how I lived without it!”

Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. I’ve been using the original R9 for almost a year and it’s been a daily-use staple, so I was excited to try the Pro version. See my review on the R9 for additional feedback not in this review but applicable . This newer model builds on what already worked well while smoothing out some of the small annoyances. It does come in at about a $50 premium, but in my opinion it’s worth it as long as the tradeoffs don’t bother you. Filtration performance is still excellent! Consistently bringing TDS down into the 6–13 range (confirmed with both the unit and a separate TDS meter I have). It also retains the super low standby power draw of about 1W, which I definitely appreciate. It does pull 1700W when dispensing hot water on the highest setting so make sure you don’t over-load the circuit it is on.The biggest upgrade here is the addition of cold water. It can dispense roughly 500mL of properly chilled water before the temperature starts creeping up, which is plenty for a quick drink. If you need more, the included dual pitchers still make it easy to rotate one in the fridge as I did with my R9. Cooling takes around 10–15 minutes at about 70W while chilling. It does have a fan that runs while chilling but the noise is minimal(see video). I also like that you can disable the cooling function entirely if you don’t want to use it after purchase. Due to the chiller being placed below the tank the design is a wider than the R9 so it take up more counter space. The tank also sticks out in the front more but it still fits most cups without issue. If you use a really wide cup you might have an issue. The R9 and R9 pro tank water holding is pretty much the same. I fill 160oz in the R9 Pro vs 150oz in the older R9. Remember you need to dump out the old water between each fill as that is where the RO keeps what is pulled out. There are also a few smaller improvements that make a noticeable difference. The interface is more intuitive, pressing once both wakes and selects, which fixes a common confusion point from the earlier version requiring a double press (1 to wake up and again to select). The beeps are quieter and less intrusive, and small touches like instruction on the tank lid are appreciated. There are a couple minor tradeoffs, like losing the smaller dispense size options (60 and 90mL) and slightly wider footprint, but overall it’s a well-thought-out upgrade. With either you will get clean RO water that is easily dispense and with instant hot. The updates are worth the small price bump especially if use the cold water dispensing. The filters on both are the same and will run you currently $85/year and can be purchased on amazon.”

The machine is high quality, very solid and durable, well built all around. It functions as it should every time and the touch screen work well, responsive and reliable. The water is so good, even better than the bottle water we were drinking. It is pricey, but in the long run we are saving so much money. Customer Review: “The touchscreen is responsive and the hot water feature heats faster than I expected. The cold water temperature is consistently cold, not just cool. Setting it up was simple, but did take time to purge the filters. Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Have you ever had ‘smooth’ water? Like, water that literally feels smooth in your mouth? It’s surreal. It’s totally flavorless. That’s what this machine delivers.I grabbed this initially due to the ongoing economic issues and worry over water quality in my city. The unit itself is quite large, taking up a pretty sizeable footprint on your counter. Still, I can’t complain… The machine is oddly beautiful for an appliance. It looks sleek and has clearly thoughtful aesthetic design, which makes it less of an eyesore when you keep it out. It comes with everything you need to make it work, including a slim pitcher for easy pouring. And the pitcher is AMAZING! It absolutely will not spill no matter what you do, and it’s easy to just pulls the lid off gently with no screwing. It would be super ideal for folks with motor control issues because it’s so easy to pop the lid off, and when you tilt it upside down, the lid somehow magically stays on. Wild. The filtration is phenomenal, almost freaky. There’s a noticeable different in the viscosity and flavor of the water once it’s been filtered, and it makes regular water almost feel gritty in your mouth. Frankly, it kind of phobes me out, but I still use it happily because I can guarantee my water is clean and safe. My favorite part is that it keeps your water cool! We don’t have a fridge that dispenses water, so it’s REALLY nice to be able to grab a cool cup of water whenever you need. You *do* need to fill and empty the machine quite a few times before using it, and it takes at least ~5 minutes to filter the water properly, so it’s definitely not a speedy machine. Still, after the initial setup, it works perfectly. Be sure you keep the instructions on hand as it’s a bit quirky (you can’t add new water to the tank if there’s any water still left in it for some reason) and it has TONS of features I haven’t even begun to explore.I wholeheartedly recommend this water filtration appliance for most anybody, but especially for folks who want to ensure their water is safe. It’s well worth the investment!”

Customer Review: “We actually have an undersink APEC RO water filter system that works extremely well and we enjoy. However, we travel a lot in our travel trailer and we sometimes get water that is fine for showering and doing the dishes but not great for drinking. I confess, I was surprised at how much work it took to get everything setup with running a lot of water through the filters to flush things, but it wasn’t difficult, it was just a touch tedious. Once I flushed everything and started to use it, it came into its own. Chilled water, quiet operation, and tasty water was the outcome. The water storage is smaller than is convenient, I feel I have to fill it with water often and it can’t really use the bottom 10-20% as well as I’d like but, at the same time, with the limited counter space in our trailer, I don’t think I would’ve wanted it any bigger. The touchscreen looks nice, it’s a good matte finish, and it mostly goes dark when not in operation, so it doesn’t make our trailer kitchen annoyingly bright at night. The strange thing is that this system costs more than we spent on our original APEC undersink RO water system. But this has more electronics (a necessary downside in my opinion) and will chill the water (a nice feature that you can turn off if you don’t like it). For me, I love my unpowered undersink system and, at home, I’d recommend it for anyone with even the most basic plumbing capability (and hole in their countertop). But if you are in a trailer, don’t have any plumbing experience or a place to put the faucet, this is an excellent option for high-quality drinking water.”

Complete Buying Guide for Reverse Osmosis Hot And Cold Water Dispenser

Essential Factors We Consider

When evaluating reverse osmosis hot and cold water dispensers, we prioritize filtration efficacy, temperature range, ease of use, and long-term value. Key factors include the number of purification stages (ideally 5+), presence of UV or mineralization, tank capacity, energy efficiency, and whether the unit includes both heating and chilling mechanisms. Durability, warranty coverage, and customer support responsiveness also play critical roles in determining overall satisfaction.

Budget Planning

Entry-level models typically start around $200–$300 and offer basic hot/cold functionality with 3–5 stage filtration. Mid-range units ($350–$500) often include advanced features like touchscreens, TDS monitors, and extended warranties. Premium systems ($600+) deliver industrial-grade performance with app connectivity, ultra-low chill temps, and superior build quality. Factor in annual filter costs (usually $60–$100) when calculating total ownership expense.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right reverse osmosis hot and cold water dispenser hinges on balancing your lifestyle needs against budget constraints. Whether you’re a tea connoisseur needing precise heat control or a parent prioritizing infant safety, today’s market offers solutions tailored to every requirement. Always verify certifications (NSF/ANSI), read real user reviews, and consider future maintenance costs before deciding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How does a reverse osmosis hot and cold water dispenser work?

A: These systems combine mechanical filtration with thermal regulation. Tap water passes through multiple filters (sediment, carbon, RO membrane), removing up to 99% of contaminants. The purified water is stored in a reservoir, then either cooled via a compressor (for cold) or heated electrically (for hot) before dispensing at your chosen temperature.

Q: Do I need professional installation for countertop RO systems?

A: No—most countertop models are designed for plug-and-play use. Simply place the unit on your counter, connect to power, fill the tank, and follow initial flush cycles. Unlike under-sink installations, none require plumbing modifications.

Q: How often should I replace the filters?

A: Typically every 6–12 months depending on usage and local water quality. Some models feature indicator lights or smart reminders. Always refer to manufacturer guidelines—running expired filters defeats the purpose of purification.

Q: Is reverse osmosis bad for my health?

A: Not inherently. While RO removes beneficial minerals, most modern systems include mineralization stages to restore taste and alkalinity. Unless you have specific medical advice otherwise, purified RO water remains safe and hydrating for daily consumption.

Q: Can I use these systems in RVs or tiny homes?
