Customer Review: “Bought in April,2024 I had to replace my older grind and brew so I went with this one. With the old one, it was pretty easy to fill the hopper on top with beans from time to time and forget about it. A frequent brushing out to keep the pathway clear for the ground coffee and you were all set. This new one is not a burr grinder but a blade chopper. It requires disassembly, cleaning and drying after each use. To brew a pot of coffee you have to measure the beans into the grinder assembly each time being careful not to overload it. The steam from the hot water rises up into the grinder during brewing and makes a slushy coffee powder paste inside that needs to be cleaned to make another pot. This model also has a kcup section that lets you brew individual cups using pods or you can buy the filter assembly so you can use ground coffee to make your own ‘pods’. I’ve had it for a few months now and it brews a fine pot of coffee automatically for us every morning with no issues. It would be nice to have a water level window in the tank for the kcups. you have to constantly look inside with a light to see if there is water and so you don’t over fill…it’s kind of an idiot design. That being said I feel we do use a bit less coffee measuring out the beans by hand instead of letting the grinder decide when to stop…and the coffee is great. The labor intensive process would make me not buy this again tho, as I was spoiled by the original burr grind and brew. It would be much easier just getting a bean grinder and using my old stove top percolator.”

The only thing I’d like to as would be an adjustable grinder but as is it’s pretty great. The blinking lights issue discussed in these reviews is the unit indicating that it needs to be decalcified. The instructions follow: DECALCIFICATION Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits that form over time on the metal parts of the coffeemaker. When all the lights flash in sequence upon turning the unit on, it is time to decalcify your coffeemaker. We recommend decalcifying every month for best performance. But the frequency really depends upon the hardness of your tap water and how often you use the coffeemaker. Directions: Step 1: Vinegar Rinse • Fill water reservoir with 13 oz. of white vinegar and 26 oz. of water. • Place a mug or other container on the drip tray. • Open and close the brew head. • Press and hold the Power and 8 oz buttons for 2 seconds to start decalcification function. • Discard contents of mug into the sink. • Repeat until Add Water light comes on. • When decalcification is complete, the Power and Grind buttons will illuminate. • Discard any remaining diluted vinegar into sink. We used to brew an entire pot and throw away half of it so we are using less coffee. I use paper filters instead of the gold metal filter it comes with. That makes it easier to clean between cups. It looks nice on the counter even though its design is a bit old fashioned. The part that I also appreciate is that it is easy to clean. The entire burr grinder pops out to make it easy to wipe off oily coffee bean residue. The basket that holds the filer comes out very easily to dump between cups. I suggest purchasing a rolling tray to pull the machine out from under the cabinet. It does generate a bit of steam during brewing and it makes the water receptacle easier to reach. It if generates an error or refuses to brew, check yourself. It is probably stopping you from brewing the a second time into the filter basket or needs water or beans. Smart machine, just pay attention to it.”

Customer Review: “It is the best coffee maker that I have purchased. The ease of taking it out of the box and setting it on my counter was in less that 10 minutes, ready for our first cup of ground coffee. We purchased the stainless matte silver to go with all our matching Cafe appliances, it looks very nice on our counter. The coffee decanter is easy to clean, keeps your coffee hot for approximately 4 hours (not that it lasts that long), and love the different coffee settings/temp for your 1 cup or the 10 cup pot. I use the paper filters for the pot but just have used the wire basket (included) for the 1 cup. The water decanter is a full 75 oz and is very ease to fill, either take it off or pour directly into it. I have never heard of the ‘bloom’ but have somehow been able to drink the coffee without half and half, no more bitter taste. I say ‘try it , you will like it’ Also the sound of the burr grinder is really quiet, not like the previous ‘747’ we had!”

Customer Review: “I could tell you about the positives of the machine (it’s attractive, coffee brewed on the ‘gold’ setting is delicious, et.). However there is a design flaw that leads to leaking, and this is a fatal flaw in that you’re most likely not going to want to keep this coffee maker. Let me explain. As other reviewers have noted, the screw-on water filter housing is very finnicky. It’s an acrylic piece that screws onto the bottom of the acrylic water reservoir. You can’t just screw it on and call it good. It has to be screwed on PERFECTLY, or it will leak. The only way to tell if it’s on right is to either fill it with water and leave it sit for a few hours to see if there’s a leak, or to look very closely at the black rubber gasket through the clear acrylic. This gasket needs to be perfectly seated, and if the piece isn’t screwed on right, you can often see it by looking at the gasket very carefully–you’ll see one side of the gasket is popped out of the recess where it’s supposed to sit. Even if it looks right, I’d still recommend filling the reservoir with water and leaving it to sit on a towel on the counter for a few hours to make sure it doesn’t leak. The problem is that even once you get the reservoir put together perfectly to where it doesn’t leak sitting on the counter, it WILL leak once you put it in the machine. The reason for this is very simple, and it’s due to a glaring design flaw you can see for yourself with careful study. The housing for the water filter has a small spring-loaded piece in the bottom center with a rubber gasket. When you put the water reservoir into its holder on the machine, this piece rests on the water intake, which pushes the spring-loaded stopper up, so water can flow/trickle out of the reservoir and be pulled into the machine. The deign flaw is that where these two pieces connect–the bottom of the water reservoir filter and the top of the water intake–is just two pieces of hard plastic resting together. There is no seal or gasket here, so no matter what you do, it’s going to leak, because there’s no water-tight seal to prevent it. This is why, when you take the water reservoir out, there is often water pooled in the holder on the machine. It’s also why, if you fill the reservoir with water the night before, to brew in the morning with a timer, or via the app, you’ll get a low water warning and find a puddle of water on your counter around the coffee maker. The more you fill the reservoir, the more and faster it leaks (e.g. it will leak more with 10 cups of water than with 4). I suspect the reason why there are good reviews for this coffee maker is people don’t realize it’s leaking. The leak is very slow, so you may only notice it if you use the timer function, or fill the water reservoir ahead of time. If you fill the water right before you make the coffee, you may not see or notice the leak, though you may still notice standing water in the reservoir holder on the machine. So if you do buy this machine (which you really shouldn’t), I highly recommend that you fill the water reservoir and leave it on the counter for a few hours to make sure you’ve got the filer housing screwed on right. Then, if there’s no leaking, fill it and leave it on the machine overnight and see if you’re greeted by a puddle on your counter in the morning. It’s possible that some units do have some kind of seal there, and I and others with this problem got units that are lacking this seal for some reason. Or (more likely, I think) they all have this flaw and some people are just not noticing. The worst thing about this, I think, is you may have the unit for a while before you do a timed brew, and so you don’t find out about the leaking until the return window is closed. Packing this all up and sending it back for a refund was a hassle. There is either a design flaw in all these machines, or their quality control is so bad that some of the machines are lacking a crucial seal. Either way, your money can be better spent on a better brand. I ended up getting a separate coffee maker and grinder, both by Breville, and the build quality on those is much higher with no problems and no leaking.”

Customer Review: “Let me preface this review by saying that I’ve owned three Keurig Duo(s) over the past 4 years (now including this one). All were different versions of the Duo. There really isn’t anything that sets this one apart for me other than the digital clock, which I could take or leave. Keurigs perform well until they don’t. I can say they last slightly longer than other brands with comparable makes and perform solidly until they decide not to turn on again (usually without warning or signs of obvious signs of struggling leading up to it); they just randomly do not turn on one day. So far, in my experience, they’ve been lasting 1-1.5 years. The pros are that it consistently makes a good cup of coffee. I enjoy having the single-use side for morning coffee and work-from-home days, and I appreciate the option to make a pot to fill my travel mug when I am on the go. The option to make a strong or weak cup is also a good option, but I never go with the latter, so it’s only ever used when I have guests. While you can use it to make iced coffee, I am not a fan, so I haven’t really tried that out. In terms of performance, it’s relatively quick, and I really like the fact that it doesn’t take 20 minutes to brew a pot like the old-school coffee makers. As far as clogging and K-cups go, it handles frequent use like a champ – It hardly, if ever, clogs, and I haven’t experienced any half-brewed coffee flowing out of the sides, or exploding cups. It is because the Keurig is so popular that if you need a spare part, there are plenty of options available, which is helpful if you want something extra to brew loose tea or coffee. Even if you have to replace a needle/motor or get a new carafe, there are options everywhere. Asthetically speaking, it’s sleek, compact, but has a decent sized resevior, and fits/sits perfectly on top of my K-Cup drawer. It’s black, so it blends with pretty much everything; the silver trim provides a decent offset. All in all, I really like Keurig. Hopefully, this one lasts longer.”

Customer Review: “This was a gift to my mother for Christmas. She seems to really enjoy it and what drew me towards this model were 2 things. First is that it has a standard coffee pot for the times that my mother would rather brew a pot instead of using a K-Cup. When her first Keurig broke she went back to using a standard pot instead of buying a new one. Standard pots still have their appeal so why not have both options in one unit? I’m glad they made it like this. The second reason is the ability to make iced coffee. I’ve never indulged in iced coffee myself but my mother is a daily coffee drinker and loves to tend to her flowers outside during the summer. I mean she really gets into the lawn stuff, she could’ve been a great landscaper designing lawns for real estate. She spends a lot of time outside during the summer and for hot days like that I can’t imagine hot coffee would be very appealing. So, this way she can still have her coffee and do the things she loves outside. I’ve had a few cups of coffee from it when visiting and they always turn out great though I do want to mention that this unit won’t accept the basic K Cup accessory when using your own coffee. It actually uses a newer type of plastic cup that has special indentations on the top of them that enable you to close the brewing lid down. If you try using a standard K Cup accessory they will fit into the machine but you won’t be able to close the lid for brewing. I’ll update the review if there’s anything extra to add in down the road but for the time being it’s been a little over 2 months and the unit seems to work great.”
