Customer Reviews
“Microwave works well. The 1200 watt rating seems accurate, had to adjust cooking times compared to my old 950 watt Microwave.”
“My wife had decided to remodel our kitchen and wanted a microwave cubby instead of an over the range or countertop type. The cubby would not take a countertop microwave with trim easily enough, so I went with this Summit microwave set. It is a top notch microwave and worth every penny (almost).I will say that I did not install it, so I cannot speak to the easy of installation. Our contractor installed it and said it was pretty straight forward, so take that as you will. The materials seem to be high quality and everything. The microwave itself is fairly quiet compared to most I have heard and used over the decades. My wife and daughter were not sure it was on when they first used it. It was working and does cook quickly. The microwave provides 1200 watts and is 2.2 cu ft inside (large enough to fit a turkey in it). There are tons of buttons that have been pretty standard over the years on the control panel. The 30-second add on button is the same as the Start button on this model. I know that design decision saved space for other buttons, but I would have preferred a separate button like others I have used. The start button could wear out more depending on your usage. Also, the clock is a green color just in case you are wondering. All microwaves made in the past decade seem to have a child lock feature now that is pretty annoying, but at least this model allows you to disable it forever. Some other microwaves reset after a power outage, but not this one. The manual and a separate card tell you how to disable the child lock forever. It can be enabled again if needed later on.The trim piece is of pretty good quality as well and screws into the cupboard around the microwave. I will say that another review stated a gap appeared around the microwave unlike the picture showing a tight fit. I agree with that review as I do have a 1 inch gap on the left and right sides (see pictures). The gaps are symmetrical and not really standing out to anyone, so I think it is fine. But I see where someone could be disappointed with the look. Not sure if that gap is purposeful to allow venting and prevent fire hazards.Overall, I would highly recommend this unit if you need a microwave to put into a cabinet. It is quiet, powerful, feature rich, and looks good. The cost is a bit much (seems to be those trim pieces based on my research), but know that you do get quality for the price.”

“Very pleased with my new microwave, size perfect, good heat, good quality…”
“This microwave has been a fantastic upgrade from the original one in our home. Installation was straightforward—my husband handled it with no issues, and the unit fit perfectly into the existing space without the need for adjustments. The stainless steel finish looks sleek, modern, and was free of dents or imperfections out of the box. What impressed us most is the performance. It heats food evenly and much faster than our old model, saving time when cooking or reheating. The screen is bright and easy to read, and the buttons respond quickly without needing extra pressure.Noise is minimal compared to our previous microwave, which makes a noticeable difference in an open kitchen space. Customer Reviews
“What can I say. It’s a microwave and it works as it should, but one of my favorite features is that you can change the volume of the beeps and noises. I wake up earlier than the rest of the family, so having these quieter alerts makes it nice so I don’t have to wake up the rest of the house cooking my breakfast. It fits exactly where the old one used to and was easy to install with the help of one other person to hold it in place for mounting. The interior is very easy to clean.I sometimes use different power levels other than just full blast, and the way to adjust the power levels is a little different than what I was used to, but after I figured it out it was an easy adjustment for me. The LED interior light makes it nice and bright inside, and overall a great value for the features that are included.”
“Works great, really happy with it. Some other reviewers complained about the plug. It’s a non-issue. Either replace your existing receptacle if you have to or installed in a new kitchen install the correct receptacle. A microwave should be on a dedicated 20A circuit anyway, but it would be fine on 15A it only draws 8 on 120V power. I cut off the plug and hardwired mine it’s inside a cabinet anyway. For half the price of a similar product from a name brand this one is working really well.”

“Great larger microwave. Son wanted a stainless steel GE one to match his stove. Heats fast. Nice looking. Only problem is that it took 3 tries to get one not damaged. First one shipped UPS had a big dent in the corner, and second one shipped USPS had a big dent on the bottom. Was a big pain hauling the two microwaves to return to the UPS store, but free returns helped a lot.”

Customer Reviews
“I like the GE Convection Microwave Oven, 1050W. I have used the microwave, the air fryer, the convection oven and all work great. My old microwave was higher wattage, but I have not had to add much extra time to heat things up. The beeping is a bit annoying, but I’m getting used to it. It tells you when it’s HOT, which is a good safety feature. A lot of smudges on the stainless steel parts, but that’s expected. It fits in the standard microwave spot in my cabinets above my kitchen counter.”
“It really is so different than a microwave. The ability to heat food up in the air fry mode is so much better than turning my gas oven. And then be able to microwave. It took a little to get used to the controls but now it’s fine. A little odd that the main microwave button “Cook time” is in a random spot rather than at the top or highlight it somehow. Wish companies used white type on black rather than the light grey (I ain’t getting any younger!). It is also a bit underpowered but not a big deal. The most annoying this this thing beeps soooo loud! So loud. I contacted GE to see if the volume could be turned down and they said no. It’s loud like something extremely dangerous is happening with the oven. Lol. Overall much better than a regular microwave.”

“Per the description, it replaced my previous RV microwave/convection oven and fit perfectly. All it took was for me to plug it in and put in a few screws to secure it. Works great.”
“I was very pleased with this unit starting with the unboxing. It was well packaged and arrived in unblemished condition. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the bulk of assembly was done in the factory. All I had to do was put on the outer trim and slide it into the opening where my old microwave had been. The fit is exactly what the measurements say, so it was a close fit and took two of us to hold it in place, get it plugged in and slid back into the cabinet, Less than ten minutes including attaching the faceplate. Then put in the six screw to hold it in place. We have used the microwave and convection so far and both worked flawlessly. Have not yet tried the grill feature. It perfectly replaced the unit that came in the rv, and as you can tell I am very happy with it.”

“I am absolutely satisfied with my purchase of this microwave. It has all the same settings as the larger ones. It’s just smaller. It fits all my needs but with a much smaller price. I use it daily. Complete Buying Guide for Space Saver Microwave Over The Range With Vent
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating space saver microwave over the range with vent models, we focus on several critical factors. First, consider the cubic footage – larger capacities accommodate family meals but require more space. Next, assess power output measured in watts, with higher wattage delivering faster cooking times. Ventilation performance is crucial too; look for CFM ratings indicating airflow capacity. Additional features like sensor cooking, preset menus, and child safety locks enhance usability. Finally, installation requirements and electrical compatibility ensure the microwave fits your specific setup.
Budget Planning
Space saver microwave over the range with vent prices typically range from $150 to over $500. Budget models like the Kenmore offer basic functionality at lower costs, while premium units from brands like GE provide advanced features and larger capacities. Remember to factor in installation costs if required, and consider whether you need additional accessories like trim kits or specialized electrical adapters. Many retailers offer seasonal discounts, and buying refurbished certified models can provide significant savings without compromising quality.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right space saver microwave over the range with vent ultimately depends on your specific kitchen needs and lifestyle. Whether you prioritize power, capacity, ventilation performance, or advanced cooking features, there’s a model that will fit your requirements. Consider your cooking frequency, available space, and desired features before making your decision. Don’t forget to check compatibility with your existing kitchen setup and electrical system to ensure smooth installation and operation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What size space saver microwave over the range with vent should I choose?
A: Consider your family size and cooking habits. For small households, .9 to 1.2 cu.ft models suffice. Families needing to heat large dishes should opt for 1.6 to 1.9 cu.ft capacities. Always measure your cabinet space before purchasing to ensure proper fit.
Q: Do I need professional installation for over-the-range microwaves?
A: While some models claim DIY installation, professional help is recommended for safety and optimal performance. Proper mounting, electrical connection, and ventilation setup require expertise. However, countertop models don’t require installation and can simply be placed on your counter.
Q: What’s the difference between recirculating and ducted ventilation?
A: Recirculating microwaves filter air through charcoal filters and release it back into the kitchen, making them ideal when duct installation isn’t possible. Ducted models vent air outside through wall or roof ducts, providing superior odor and grease removal but requiring professional installation.
Q: How often should I replace my microwave filter?
A: Charcoal filters in recirculating systems typically need replacement every 6-12 months with heavy use. Mesh filters should be cleaned monthly with warm soapy water. Replace immediately if you notice reduced ventilation performance or persistent odors.
Q: Can I use my microwave for grilling and baking?
A: Basic microwaves only handle heating and defrosting. Models with convection features can grill, bake, and roast, though results vary. True grilling requires dedicated grilling equipment. Convection microwaves offer the closest alternative but with limitations compared to full ovens.
Finding the best space saver microwave over the range with vent doesn’t have to be overwhelming. From powerful GE models with recirculating ventilation to compact RV units designed for mobile living, there’s a perfect option for every kitchen layout and cooking style. Whether you prioritize large capacity, advanced features, or budget-friendly performance, our comprehensive reviews and buying guide help you make informed decisions. With the right microwave, you’ll enjoy convenient meal preparation while maximizing your kitchen’s functionality and efficiency.
