Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “We have city water, but it leaves behind a residue on the faucets and in our showers. After installing the filters, the water tastes different, and seems to be better in the shower. The amount of time that was required to clean my poof went from over a minute to about 15 seconds. I guess we had hard water. So glad I purchased this. The install was pretty easy. It says it prefers the plastic fittings over the brass shark bite fittings, but they worked fine. I had to wrap a couple of layers of silicone, but it worked out fine in the end. I believe this is a very good system, price wise, and the ability to remove contaminates. I wish I would’ve done this years ago. Update – I can’t say enough about this filtration system. It’s amazing! The water is so much better. Loving this filtration system. Install was quite easy as well. I luckily hit studs on both sides, but I also added a couple of toggle bolts in between just out of concern for the weight of the system with it being full of water.”

Customer Review: “My water quality was pretty bad, and I knew I needed a solid solution. After doing some research, I decided to try the PRO+AQUA Elite Series GEN2 PRO-100-E 3-stage whole house water filtration system after finding it on Amazon—and let me tell you, the difference is amazing. What I Love:Improved Water Quality: The water quality has improved drastically. Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “This filter housing worked great. Very sturdy construction and the quality shows.”

Customer Review: “I was happy to obtain this AquaWeaver filter housing on Amazon. It will make a great companion for the AquaWeaver WH-10HD, blue housing which I already have. I will be using this one for filtering sediment since the housing is clear and I can easily monitor the filter condition (see picture with filter). I will be installing my two stage AquaWeaver system in small home which we will be constructing. So, here’s my assessment of it; both positives and negatives:Positives:• According to the information on Amazon, it is made of food grade, BPA, and lead free materials.• It has 1 inch inlet and outlet ports made of brass for unrestricted household water flow and pressure.• The plastic housing is very thick and durable.• The housing cap automatically centers the filter when the canister is threaded into it.• The housing incorporates two O-rings for leak free performance.• It has a pressure relief valve and includes a filter wrench for easy filter replacement.• Installation is easily accomplished with the provided instruction manual, teflon tape, and metal mounting bracket.• It will accept all standard 4.5 x 10 inch filters.• As of my review, it is a very good value compared to name brand housings of the same type found in plumbing supply houses, big box hardware stores, or online.Negatives:• I’ve installed two name brand 10” x 4.5” filter housings in our current home which included heavy gauge mounting brackets. Unfortunately, the AquaWeaver mounting bracket is made of a thinner gauge metal—roughly half the gauge of the name brand and is smaller in size overall (please see my pictures for comparison). This alone is the reason I’m giving this AquaWeaver housing a 4 star rating rather than 5.That said, with the exception of the included mounting bracket, the quality of this AquaWeaver housing appears to be every bit as good as my name brand housings, and the bracket should still be able to handle the weight of the housing, filter, and water.• It doesn’t incorporate an on/off valve with bypass, flush, and backwash features. However, I’m not lowering its rating this since these features cost considerably more—up to 3 times the price for housings which include them.If you plan on purchasing this filter canister, I advise using it with a combo filter which includes sediment filtration and KDF-55 and activated charcoal, especially if it will be the only filter in your system. For a better performing whole house system, I recommend using this WH-C10HD for sediment filtration and purchasing the AquaWeaver WH-10HD plain blue housing and using it with a KDF-55 and activated carbon filter. KDF (granulated copper and zinc alloys) is excellent for filtering chlorine and chlorinated hydrocarbons, toxic heavy metals, bacteria, and other contaminants. KDF does this via oxidation/reduction (redox) without the use of chemicals. The addition of activated carbon will filter chlorine volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and chlorine by absorption. It will also remove foul tastes and odor. The use of a sediment filter and KDF and activated carbon filter media is also a very good pre-filter for use with water softeners, as chlorine and chloramines will degrade the water softener resin over time. This along with sediments will negatively impact performance and reduce the life span of the conditioner.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I’ve tried several different whole house water filter systems and this is by far my favorite. To keep this short I’ll give you a quick overview. A lot of these systems leak it’s one of the most common problems. The weak point is the connection ports. To fix that problem on this system they use brass threads which is strong and prevents cracks and leaks. The second common problem is reduced flow rates over time. This system can flow up to 15 GPM which is higher than most. This allows for the system over time to keep filtering and not have a noticeable reduction in pressure or flow. That also saves money in filter changes. My water quality with this system and paired with the HQUA UV filter is incredible! No smells, bad tastes or anything floating in the water. After having a water test I’ve removed all the problems and now my water is in spec with state guidelines. The best part is it tastes great and I know my family is safe drinking it.Features:High Flow Quality Filters: The most important thing is obviously the filters. This system uses a Sediment Filter which strips solids before they get to the second filter. The second filter GAC + KDF removes heavy metals which are common in well water and city water. The third filter will clean up odor’s, color and the big one chlorine found in almost all city water sources.Oil Filled Pressure Gauges for each filter: These are industrial quality gauges that allow you to monitor the pressures coming out of each filter. This will tell you if you have a loss in pressure and which filter needs replacing. They thought about everything and even prewrapped the threads with Teflon tape.Filter Drains: Each filter housing has a drain at the bottom that allows you to drain sediment that can prematurely clog your filters up. You can also purge the filters under pressure to clean them off which gets you a longer filter life.Red Purge Buttons: Each filter has a red air purge button at the top to blead off air in the system.Reversable In/out flow: This system allows you to change the in/out location to make installation easier depending on your current plumbing.Extra Gaskets: The system comes with extra gaskets and even includes the silicone lubricant to save you money.Fittings: They include 3/4″ and 1″ fittings for installation so you save money again on the parts.Cleaning Brush and Wrench: This is the only kit I’ve seen that includes a cleaning brush for the filter housings. You also get the wrench to remove the heavy duty filter housings.Instruction Manual: Large Print, Easy to Follow, Pictures, Trouble Shooting. It’s all included in the instructions I was impressed with the attention they put into this to make it easy to understand and install this system.Customer Service: Here is one thing you may not know you need until you need it. I’ve reached out to customer service and had an answer in less than 24 hours. HQUA stands behind their products and wants you to be happy. This is my second filter from them.”

Customer Review: “I couldn’t be happier with the HQUA WF3-01 3-Stage Whole House Water Filtration System! Installation was straightforward, and the difference in water quality was noticeable almost immediately. Our water now tastes cleaner, looks clearer, and even feels softer when washing dishes or showering. The system feels very solid and well-built.What really sets HQUA apart, though, is their customer service. They go above and beyond! When I had a small question about installation/leaking, their team responded quickly, sent a replacement, and even followed up afterward to make sure everything was working properly. It’s rare to find that level of care these days.Overall, I highly recommend this system to anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality whole house water filtration system backed by a company that truly stands behind its product. Excellent product, excellent support, 100% worth it!”

Complete Buying Guide for Whole House Water Filter For Well

Essential Factors We Consider

When selecting the best whole house water filter for well, we evaluate several critical factors: filtration stages, micron rating, flow rate, and compatibility. Wells vary widely in water quality—some have high iron, others carry sediments or chemical residues. A true whole house system must address your specific contaminants while maintaining adequate pressure throughout your home. Look for systems with multiple stages (sediment + carbon + KDF), pressure gauges, and durable brass fittings to ensure longevity and performance.

Budget Planning

A quality whole house filter ranges from $200 to over $800 depending on complexity. Entry-level 2-stage systems offer basic protection for under $300, while advanced 3-stage models with softeners and UV reach $1,000+. Remember to factor in annual filter replacement costs ($50–$150/year). Investing more upfront often saves money long-term by preventing appliance damage and reducing healthcare costs related to poor water quality.

Final Thoughts

Choosing the right whole house water filter for well isn’t just about price—it’s about matching technology to your water’s unique challenges. Whether you need simple sediment removal or comprehensive contaminant defense, the systems reviewed here deliver proven results backed by real user experiences. Prioritize safety, ease of maintenance, and scalability as you make your decision.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often should I change my whole house water filter?

A: Most filters need replacement every 6–12 months depending on usage and contaminant levels. Sediment filters typically last 3–6 months, while carbon/KDF stages may go 6–12 months. Pressure drop or reduced flow are key indicators it’s time to change.

Q: Can I install a whole house filter myself?

A: Yes, most systems are designed for DIY installation with basic tools. Look for kits that include instructions, fittings, and bypass valves. If you’re uncomfortable cutting pipes or working with pressurized lines, consult a plumber—but many homeowners successfully install these systems themselves.

Q: Do whole house filters remove fluoride?

A: Standard carbon filters don’t remove fluoride effectively. For fluoride removal, you’d need a specialized bone char or activated alumina filter—often added as a fourth stage. Check product specs to confirm fluoride removal capability.

Q: Will a whole house filter hurt my water pressure?

A: Reputable systems maintain strong flow (typically 10–15 GPM). Poorly designed units or clogged filters can reduce pressure. Always verify GPM ratings and choose models with wide inlet/outlet ports to minimize resistance.

Q: Are whole house filters worth it for well water?

A: Absolutely. Well water often contains sediments, iron, manganese, and other contaminants absent in municipal supplies. A proper filtration system protects plumbing, extends appliance life, improves taste, and safeguards health—making it a smart investment for any well owner.

Upgrading to the best whole house water filter for well isn’t just about convenience—it’s about peace of mind. Clean, safe water flows from every tap, supports healthier skin and hair, and keeps your home running smoothly. Whether you choose the PRO+AQUA Elite for its robust build or the HQUA WF3-01 for heavy metal defense, you’re investing in long-term quality. Ready to take the next step?
