Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “I had a chance to test out my new WinTemp Boiling Water Dispenser, and overall, I’m super impressed. When it says boiling, it is not kidding. The water got so hot that it began to melt the plastic jar I was using to test it out with. The build quality is A+. It’s got a really nice heavy stainless steel spigot with both hot and cold water valves, and all the plumbing that is needed to set it up was included (minus whatever you will need to connect to your fresh water supply), and setup was straightforward. All the fittings are quick connect except for the one flex line and it has a built in tool for tighting it to the heater. Everything was neatly packed and labeled. It heats water fast—took about 12-15 minutes to get from room temp to over 200°F. I reallylike that it’s only 1300 watts, which is nice since I can run it off of an existing single 110 outlet, just plug and play. It would be nice if the hoses were a bit longer but but I dont see it really being an issue for my set up—another foot or so would make installation more flexible. But other than that I am really happy with it overall. Perfect for my garage setup or the off-grid cabin I’m planning. Highly recommend!

Customer Review: “Holds temp and can be adjusted with my phone. I’ve had the other product that’s popular with the big box stores and this is SOOOO much better. Easy install but is a little larger than the others. Don’t mind it though since it’s light years ahead of the other product. FYI: I had the standard 1&3/8 hole which the faucet did cover in case people wanted to know.”

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “OMG, I love this hot water dispenser. Great for making teas, hot cereals and instant coffee in half the time because the water is already hot and waiting to be used. As a bonus, it disinfects and cleans dishes and bottles with out chemicals because the temperature of the water is 160-210° F.I choose this model because I installed a 3 stage water filtration system under the sink and i wanted only one additional spout added to the top of the sink. After filtered water leaves the filtration system the water line splits in two, one goes to the insinkerator then to the hot water side of the spout, the second line goes right to the cold water side of the spout. So using the water filtration system and splitting the lines give me filtered hot water and filtered drinking water.I have read the reviews for this and other models and I really believe most problems can be attributed to installation errors, irregularities in the existing plumbing or water condition. I do believe in the existents of manufacturing defects, so upon receiving my unit I took it apart for inspection. I found that under the plastic outer shell is a thick layer of insulating Styrofoam and under that is the tank. That is it, nothing complicated here. I did a quick look over of the ports and electrical connections and it all looked solid and tight. No tubing or wires came in contact with the tank. This unit has a two tap spout with indicators for hot and cold water. It does not chill water. It only heats it. The water is as cold as it is out your regular sink faucet. It is warm to the touch, because the contents is hot. Occasionally, it will make a very faint boiling noise as the heating element turns on to keep the water at the set temperature. For safety, you have to hold the lever for hot or cold water to flow. Wish I did not have to hold the lever for cold water.I Like It.Would Recommend. Will Buy Again.

Customer Review: “If you already have the needed power and 3/8 cold water connection this is nearly a snap to install. But I needed to add an outlet under the sink as the disposal and dishwasher were directly wired from a junction box. Added outlet with disposal on one and dishwasher circuit on the other. Keeping the dishwasher directly wired it gave me a plugin for the tank unit. Also needed to replace the cold water valve with one that had two 3/8 outputs. After getting that done I mounted a water flter (3/8″ in/out) and connected to the new cold water valve. Of course the unit I got and perhaps most all are 1/4″ so I needed a snapfit 3/8 to 1/4 connector. Dry fit the hot/cold valve from above (removed the sprayer to free up a hold) and the tank does need to be pretty close to it, mine is straight below and about 5″ off the bottom. Water connections then pretty much snap together. I flushed the cold first to clear out the new filter.Flow is very strong. Perhaps the 3/8” filter system helps and its only a basic single filter stage. Some complained flow wasn’t good but for me hot and cold flow beyond expectations (16oz hot in about 9 secs). Now I’m waiting on our first electrical bill after installing to see what the energy use might be and added cost per month.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: “Following the quick setup instructions I attempted to flush the system. It says It will take up to a minute and not to interrupt it. I waited a few minutes and no water came out. Did it a second time and it finally flushed the system.Other users reported leaks but I didn’t experience any. They also reported that it was noisy but it is quiet compared to the Keurig machine I was using before. When you set the volume size it stays but when you set the temperature you must dispense right away or it resets to room temperature.I turn on and set volume size and temperature and dispense and get hot water almost immediately where SS with the Keurig I had to wait about a minute for the hot water would dispense. The only complaint my wife had was the size of the machine. It is taller than what we expected and towers over the coffee machine it sets next to.All in all we are happy with our purchase.Tried to register for warranty and Brio’s website wouldn’t accept the serial number. It says it’s a 10 digit number but our s/n is 16 character and digits.

Customer Review: “We bought this to replace an old, broken Zojirushi and are very happy with it. We prefer this design that does not have plastic parts exposed to hot water under pressure, which turned out to be a huge safety hazard with our previous Zojirushi that we used for almost a decade. For a dispenser with on-demand hot water at multiple temperatures and volumes, without plastic components constantly under heat/pressure AND with an integrated filter that lasts a year, you really can’t beat the Brio SIMPL. We’ve had it for over 3 months now and haven’t had any issues!”

Complete Buying Guide for Mains Fed Hot And Cold Water Dispenser

Essential Factors We Consider

When evaluating mains-fed hot and cold water dispensers, we prioritize **performance**, **safety**, and **ease of use**. Key considerations include heating speed, temperature precision, child safety mechanisms, build quality, and compatibility with your existing plumbing. Energy efficiency matters too—especially if you’ll use it frequently. Always check whether the model includes a water filter, as purified water tastes better and protects internal components. Finally, consider physical dimensions: wall-mounted units save space, while countertop models offer flexibility.

Budget Planning

Entry-level dispensers start around $150–$200 and provide basic hot/cold functionality. Mid-range models ($200–$400) often add smart controls, filtration, or stainless steel tanks. Premium systems ($400+) include advanced features like WiFi connectivity, precise temperature dials, and commercial-grade materials. Remember to factor in installation costs if hiring a plumber, and budget for replacement filters every 3–12 months depending on usage. Renters should opt for non-permanent, countertop units to avoid deposit deductions.

Final Thoughts

A reliable mains-fed hot and cold water dispenser simplifies daily life and enhances kitchen functionality. Whether you need boiling water for tea or chilled water for hydration, today’s models combine innovation with practicality. Choose based on your space, budget, and specific needs—whether that’s smart controls, filtration, or silent operation. With proper care, your dispenser will serve you faithfully for years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do mains-fed dispensers require professional installation?

A: Most models come with DIY kits and clear instructions, allowing homeowners to install them in under an hour. However, if your sink lacks pre-drilled holes or you’re running new electrical lines, hiring a licensed plumber is advisable.

Q: How often should I replace the water filter?

A: Filters typically last 3–6 months for moderate use or 6–12 months for heavy use. Refer to your user manual for exact intervals—some models even alert you via LED when replacement is needed.

Q: Can I use a mains-fed dispenser without a filter?

A: Yes, but unfiltered water may contain chlorine, sediments, or minerals that affect taste and potentially damage internal components over time. Adding a filter improves both flavor and longevity.

Q: Are child safety locks standard on all models?

A: Not always. Always verify that the hot water spout has a two-step activation (press + pull) or lock mechanism, especially if young children will be using the kitchen.

Q: Will a mains-fed dispenser increase my electricity bill significantly?

A: No—most consume under 1 kWh per day. Modern units use energy-saving modes and efficient heating elements, so monthly costs typically add less than $5 to your bill.

Upgrading to a mains fed hot and cold water dispenser transforms your kitchen into a modern, efficient hub. From instant coffee prep to safe sterilization, these devices save time, reduce waste, and elevate convenience. Whether you choose a smart touchscreen model or a classic InSinkErator faucet, investing in quality pays off in comfort and reliability.
