“This was actually a joy to put together! I was expecting a headache, but the instructions are very clear and everything is well-marked. You do have to look closely for some of the number stickers, as most of them are quite small, but it really isn’t difficult. The numbering on two of the back panels got switched around, and there were a couple of pieces that were imperfectly cut and needed a bit of finagling so it wasn’t *perfect*, but nothing I needed extra tools for. Really I only needed a couple different Philips’ head screwdrivers for the whole thing, and it took me about 2 hours to put together all by myself. It is really easy to overtighten the screws so you have to be mindful of that. I wouldn’t recommend using a power screwdriver at all. This kitchen is the perfect size for my smaller 2yo. She can just reach the top of it to get things down from there. I just love how much storage room there is! I was worried there wouldn’t be enough to hold a decent variety of play food and dishes etc but the well-placed shelves really did away with that concern. I *do* wish they had included a shelf in the fridge though and can’t imagine why they didn’t. Love all the accessories it comes with that I didn’t have to pay extra to buy elsewhere – the salt and pepper shakers have little beads in them that rattle when you shake them too which is adorable, and the utensils are adorable but the pans are just a bit too small – they don’t hold very much of the toy food that we bought. There were a couple of cracked pieces on delivery but lucky for me it was nothing that was visible once put together or that impaired structural integrity or functionality. I love that the kitchen has handles on either side for easy rearranging – and I think putting similar cutout handles in the packaging would go a long way toward sparing the contents from damage in transit. The box was big, heavy, and awkward with nowhere to get a secure hold on it which is likely why any of the parts got damaged at all. Anyway, these were just minor concerns in my case, and everything works great. My toddler absolutely loves it and I’m sure we’ll get endless hours of fun out of it in the days to come.”

(Initial review – I just finished assembling it. I’ll update the review after it’s been played with for a while) Packaging was sufficient to protect all the parts. Delivery was quick. Instructions were clear, parts were mostly all clearly labeled and no missing parts. Assembly took a few hours (while babysitting my 2y granddaughter and doing laundry and making supper). I was able to complete by myself with just a phillips screwdriver. The pieces are too thin for me to feel comfortable using a power tool. Pieces are light, but sturdy – I’m guessing press board with a melamine surface, more or less. Everything lined up correctly and when finished, has a nice clean appearance. It does have a safety strap that can be anchored to the wall to prevent tipping. Assembled product is not so heavy it can’t be moved by one adult, but may be difficult for small children to move around (which I’m ok with). There are sufficient places to place your hands to carry safely if needed. Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included) to power the stove lights/sounds. The oven lights up (uses a watch battery included). I needed something to have at my home for my grandbabies to play with, as they are always wanting to play in the kitchen when they visit. I needed it to suit both genders and multiple ages. It will not get daily play, but may get heavy play periodically. We have it backed up to the sliding glass door (the side that doesn’t open) overlooking the back yard. I love that it has a “window” to look thru. That will be awesome year-round. We parked it next to a small storage rack to hold the spare parts. The wooden accessories are similar to Melissa & Doug products. The ice cubes can be loaded into the ice maker and released with the spring-action lever. I would have liked the curtains to be able to come off for cleaning or updating as needed. However, you place them on during assembly, and once you screw the dowel rod to the rest of the piece, you won’t be able to get to the curtains back off without unscrewing the wooden parts (not recommended for stability). The piece has lots of options for imagination without being overwhelming. Pictured here includes some accessories purchased separately. Also… What is the little wood coin looking thing? (See last photo) My grandchildren that will play with this now are are ages 5, 5, 4, & 2.5, with an infant who will be soon. At this time, I have not added the legs.
