Makes sense I suppose and there’s no harm in switching to a natural product, so we did and boy are we glad. I don’t know if we for sure ingested plastics but what I do know is that I really love cutting on a wood surface more than I do a plastic one. I love this bamboo cutting board for many reasons. First lets talk about the material, bamboo. Technically it’s a grass but bamboo is hard as a rock (and yes there is a lot of technical info on the web about grass vs. wood and hardness levels, but let’s just do layman’s chat here) and holds up great to sharp knife edges. By comparison, I purchased a solid (not glue laminated like this board) handmade cherry wood cutting board first and it is a beautiful board, great size but the wood is much softer than bamboo. I also purchased a solid piece of olive wood cutting board but it is small, more like for cutting an apple. This bamboo cutting board is just the right size for meal prep. Not too big, not too small. And it is heavy, but not too heavy – just enough to feel right. There are 4 rubber feet to prevent sliding on the counter but they also prevent you from using both sides of the board. No worries, that just means the main side will see all of the wear and tear. I’ve had thin bamboo cutting boards before and like them well, but if wet, they will warp. This board is very thick and I doubt it will warp unless saturated or soaked. The finish is nice but I do think it could use more sanding. Great! Because it does come with a piece of sandpaper just in the event that you feel a rough spot. There are routered out handles on either side for moving or carrying! Bonus! The price point is great and I feel it is a very good value. You can’t go wrong with this bamboo cutting board.”

“Customer Review: We eat a lot of fresh bread in this home. I’m talking about huge loaves of ciabatta, long baguettes, and big dinner rolls. This means I have crumbs all over. I don’t like to cut my bread on plates, and I don’t want to use existing cutting boards because I use them for food prep, so this is a beautiful piece of wood that I can leave at the table throughout the meal. I can cut cheese on it, and I can cut bread on it. It has a handy little crumb catcher groove all the way around and is pleasing to look at. It has a large enough footprint, perfect for big pieces of bread, and I don’t have to worry about crumbs flying all over the tablecloth because they have their own surface. I can pick up the board, take it to the sink, and dump all the crumbs. I’m not crazy about having to oil it, but it’s not a big deal. It’s just once a month—it’s not the manual labor. It’s the idea of oil residue maybe getting into my food; however, it’s organic and should soak into the wood very quickly. I do have a few nicks and marks in the wood.
