Customer Review: “I owned a Sodastream, and I can’t tell the difference between that model and the Phillips brand of carbonator. They both do the job equally well. I’m thrilled that I saved myself all the money it would have taken to get a Sodastream. I have used the Phillips for two weeks…which means I can’t comment on its longevity. It could break right after I write this review. (If it does, I’ll update the review.)Both units are very simple. Screw in the CO2 cannister and push the oversized button to carbonate the water. I don’t use sweetener. I like plain H2O.If you’re new to this product, you might be wondering how long the CO2 cannister lasts (I don’t think the type of carbonation machine you purchase, whether Sodastream or Phillips, makes a difference). After all, you want to save money on eight-packs of Bubly, right? Overall, you will save money. . .except you’ll drink more water, which might end up being more expensive. Still, as far as dollars to product, this method is less expensive (once you surpass the initial cost of the machine and cannisters). Again, I save money because I do NOT buy flavors.Based on my body weight, I need to drink about a gallon of water per day. (If you’re interested in improving your health, divide your body weight in half and drink that many ounces per day.) That means I need to drink 128 ounces or so. Four Phillips bottles of carbonated water allow me to meet and exceed that goal by about four ounces. Each bottle is one liter. (1 liter = 33.814 ounces).Over these last two weeks, I ended up drinking three or four bottles of soda water per day. I pumped the oversized button three or four times per bottle. The problem is you have to pump more as the CO2 cannister nears empty (at the end, it was five or seven times). On the thirteenth day, I couldn’t get any fizz worth enjoying, so I figure I got twelve days of use out of a single cannister. So far it is working well and hopefully will for quite a while.I just received this yesterday and it was easy to figure out how to set it up and use it. I read directions, but mainly to know how long to press the button to make my fizzy water. So far I love it since my soda stream died a few days ago. I’m hoping this lasts much longer and the price was appealing also and I didn’t have to buy all new equipment to be shipped.Update: My unit is still working. I did have one instance where water sprayed everywhere, so I have been very careful to not overfill the bottle with water and it hasn’t happened again. We are in the Caribbean, so getting the canisters refilled can be problematic, but we ordered two devices and bits to make it all work, for this or Soda stream. I am going to order another because I know it won’t last forever and someone threw away or walked with one of my bottles! Customer Review: “I replaced a Soda Stream Terra that failed and chose this for the main reason that I wanted to return to a screw type carbonation cylinder (not the quick-connect) AND I wanted something simple. These are a steal right now, likely because Philips has discontinued the product. This is fine by me, because it takes the Soda Stream and other brand canisters, so I hope to get a few years use from this. Note that other water bottles are NOT compatible, so order an extra 1 or 2 if you can. Even so, it’s a sturdy bottle and I pour the freshly carbonated water into my smaller Soda Stream bottles right away to extend use.Operation is easy – just push the canister in firmly and give it a few good twists – you do hear a click and it should feel firm. Twist in the water bottle filled to the line with cold water, and push firmly for 2-3 seconds, wait, hear puff sound, repeat 2-3x. The way home carbonation machines are designed, pushing too long will just waste gas and I’ve found this creates a good level of fizz for me. It’s a great machine for the price, just buy knowing that product support may be minimal because this was discontinued.”

Of course I tighten the cap strongly.All of that above, a well written instruction booklet would also contain the name of the company, its phone number and email address. If I had all that information, I could have done some research about them. No such information was found on the product itself or in an insert.My bad for having bought this product before researching it. Of course I can still return the product for a credit, but that’s a lot of back and forth to return it, a hassle I don’t deserve for a minor cost item.”
