Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. Hamilton Beach is one of those brands with a lot of question marks, at least for me. I decided to write this review because this sandwich maker really outperforms my overall expectations. The videos in the ad are informative and accurate. I have used this to make about twenty breakfast sandwiches thus far and the only time things didn’t work out were due to my errors. The total time from initial preheat, (3 minutes) to tasty breakfast is 8-12 minutes depending on your ingredients and tolerance for heated food. The egg can spill over some but the cleaning has been minimal. I have not had a sticking issue but I use a spray to make sure. I find a pair of silicone coated tongs work well to remove my sandwiches rather than a spatula. If you put meat in, the level may tilt and the egg may not spread evenly. It will cook but may leak through to the bottom. Again, not difficult to clean up. I have not used bacon, oooh, bacon!?! but I would not be surprised to see a greasy mess. I would probably use leftover bacon rather than fresh bacon. On that note, you MUST use cooked meats in this appliance. Most bacon is cured but will release a lot of grease. If I were to make an improvement, it would be to include an auto shut off. You need to be attentive to prevent an issue, but since I am usually hungry as a bear in the morning, I am drooling as I wait to hear that beep-beep saying it’s breakfast time!!This is an inexpensive alternative to a drive-thru and will require as much time out of your day as waiting in line. Plus, you can make your coffee, or whatever you do, while you wait. unlike sitting in your car listening to traffic reports. LOL.Bottom line, if you are here, you want a way to make an easy breakfast. This is it, if you want an egg based sandwich. Dead short technology has been around way too long for there to be issues related to electrical reliability. I believe user care and the design which eliminates the potential to contaminate the circuitry from normal use is far more important than brand name on such a basic appliance. I wrote this review because I would buy it again for the same price, even if it fails within a few years. Why? Because it would most likely be my fault if it fails. For the small price compared to the drive -thru alternative, my break even is less than 10 trips to the clown show.UPDATE 11/2025I have been enjoying this sandwich maker for a long time now, and I still find it to be as good today as the first day I used it. I mentioned above, that this brand leaves some questions, but at this point, it is a slam dunk. I have never had a problem with it, it has performed flawlessly, it is a great value and I just love it.Initially, I figured there were enough videos out there to explain all the features and functions, but after some time, I have learned a few things to share with all of you.Mainly, the incorporation of a wi-fi enabled outlet as shown in my video is a great way to ad a timer/switch to my/your routine. I set the outlet for 8-10 minutes, depending on what is in my sandwich, and initiate that process 10 minutes or so from the time I want to eat my breakfast. I prepare all of it the night before, usually with a frozen sausage patty to keep things cool overnight. I get up and go through my routine, and by the time it’s all said and done, I am showered, have my coffee in hand, and my breakfast ready to go. This is such a time saver, and very reliable, that I have put a lot of effort into this review for your convenience and understanding, so you too, may enjoy such a wonderful appliance. I hope my pics and video helped you to undderstand in real life, what you are shopping for😀 I am very happy with this product and highly recommend it 😎I sure hope you found this a help. Thanks👍🏼”
Customer Review: “I was kind of skeptical about this thing but am having such a good experience with it. Easy breakfast sandwiches and incredibly easy clean up. If you’re like me and hate reading directions, don’t overlook that each sandwich apparatus pops out and removes from the main griddle machine for easy cleaning. I didn’t notice this until I went through a couple of messy clean ups and it made all the difference. I like spraying a little bit of Pam in the bottom which aids greatly in reducing sticking and improves clean up. Very enjoyable sandwich machine and I’m finding myself using it almost daily. Great recipes on their website. Good bang for your buck considering the utility and low cost.Tips:1) Don’t overload the top tray. Just put as little as possible on top of the egg. If you load stuff in the top tray and then close it, the weight and pressure will push the egg through the seams and you’ll get runny egg on the base of the griddle plate making clean up more difficult. I just put cheese on top of the egg, wait about 20 seconds and then gently lay the top muffin/mini bagel and gently let the top tray rest on top and I rarely get egg running out the sides. ***Also, take a fork and pierce the egg yolk so that it flattens out. This will also cause less pressure from a non uniform surface.2) Go easy on the cheese. Too much cheese will just make a mess.3) A little bit of Pam spray on the top tray lets the bottom slide release much smoother.I heat mine up while I’m getting everything ready. I let 20-30 secs go by before I put the cheese on top of the egg and this allows it to start cooking and I have much less running from the seams. 4.5 minutes and the sandwich is perfect.Love this gadget. I never knew I’d use it as much as I do and it’s become an almost daily part of my breakfast routine.”

Customer Review: “This works great for hot dogs, frozen battered fish fillets & sandwiches. It is a time saver. Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “This is a good product. You can have sandwiches the way you want them. I have only used it twice but love it.”
Customer Review: “I bought their Breakfest Sandwich Maker and it worked just like it was supposed too so bought this using the three installment plan. I made three sandwiches using Sara lee borich & Artesano bread and i was very pleased with the results. First unlike the first model this has no lip surrounding the hot plate it’s flat and the sandwich mold doesn’t drop into holding channels you need to tilt in one side while letting other fit in guide slot. Not a big deal but does take little practice. Other than that pretty much same just really no limit as what type bread you can use as long no bigger than standard bread slice. I put half pat of butter on hot plate then bread, Oscar Meyer cold cuts, 2 slice tomato and 2 slices of cheese. Then lowered top plate and cracked in the square mold a egg spreading it around and topped with slice of bread. Closed the top and set timer for 3.5 minutes when time was up just swing out the flat plate and both dropped onto lower sandwich then lift the bottom mold slide finished sandwich of onto a spatula done. I like this model much more than first one because offers more options.Update: I made few different sandwiches now and all turned out fine. I tried an already cooked hamburger using an Amazon bagle with 2 slices of tomato and cheese but it was 2 big to close with top plate so I left it out and closed lid just long enough to melt & heat up lower half. I removed lower sandwich and closed the the mold with flat plate back in postion then cracked my egg put the bagle on top closed lid until egg cooked. Then slid out plate and lifted the molds and slid egg&bagel out onto bottom half of burger done. if going to try this better off using the thin sliced bagles sold in stores. No grills just flat cooking surface but it would be cool of they made round mold like breakfest sandwich maker to fit this and double size made bigger mold hoagie size bread.”

Customer Review: “I apparently bought this in October 2018. At first it enjoyed occasional use, but these last couple of years as my teens have discovered they have to fend for themselves sometimes, it has become a regular fixture on my kitchen side (despite multiple reminders to put it away when its cooled 😉). Tonight, picking up his plate with his cheese toasties, my eldest sighed “I really hope the person who invented this machine lives a long and happy life…they deserve to” so as a mom of picky eaters, I kinda feel obliged to finally leave a review. I know I’m on borrowed time with this hardworking machine as I’m sure he’ll be nabbing it when he leaves the nest…but I will definitely buy another! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

Complete Buying Guide for Sandwich Makers
Essential Factors We Consider
When evaluating the best sandwich makers, we focus on several key aspects: cooking performance, ease of cleaning, build quality, safety features, and versatility. A good sandwich maker should deliver crispy exteriors and moist interiors consistently, clean up easily, and operate safely without fumes or overheating. Durability matters too—materials like stainless steel and cast aluminum stand up better over time than cheaper plastics.
Additional considerations include whether the unit has a timer, indicator lights, cool-touch handles, and nonstick coatings. For families, capacity (single vs. dual slots) and special functions like egg molds or French toast settings add significant value. Always check if the appliance is PFAS-free if chemical exposure is a concern.
Budget Planning
Sandwich makers range widely in price—from budget-friendly models under $20 (like microwave versions) to premium countertop appliances over $60. Entry-level options are perfect for occasional use or small spaces, while mid-range models offer better performance and longevity. If you plan to use your sandwich maker daily, investing in a higher-quality unit with robust construction will pay off in reliability and reduced replacement costs.
Consider your usage frequency and kitchen needs before deciding. For example, students or renters might prefer a cheap microwave model, whereas families benefit from durable, feature-rich designs that handle multiple servings and varied recipes.
Final Thoughts
Choosing the right sandwich maker comes down to balancing functionality, durability, and value. Whether you prioritize speed, versatility, or simplicity, there’s a model on this list that fits your lifestyle. From the Cuisinart’s reliable performance to the Hamilton Beach’s breakfast-focused design, each appliance brings something unique to the table.
Remember to match the features to your actual needs—don’t pay for bells and whistles you won’t use. And always prioritize easy cleaning and safe operation, as these impact daily usability the most.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I make non-sandwich foods in a sandwich maker?
A: Absolutely! Many sandwich makers can prepare grilled cheese, paninis, quesadillas, French toast, mini omelets, and even small desserts like brownies or grilled fruit. Some models, like the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker, even include egg molds for breakfast pockets.
Q: How do I clean my sandwich maker properly?
A: Always unplug and let the unit cool completely before cleaning. Wipe the plates with a damp cloth or sponge—never immerse the base in water. For stuck-on residue, use a soft brush or plastic scraper. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal utensils that can damage the nonstick coating.
Q: Are sandwich makers safe to leave plugged in?
A: Most modern sandwich makers have automatic shut-off features, so they’re generally safe to leave unattended once heated. However, it’s always best practice to unplug after use and never operate the device empty. Always follow the manufacturer’s safety instructions.
Q: What’s the difference between a sandwich maker and a panini press?
A: Panini presses typically have deeper ridges and higher pressure to compress bread and create grill marks, while sandwich makers often have flatter or shallower plates designed for even browning without crushing delicate fillings. Some hybrid models combine both styles.
Q: Can I use frozen ingredients in a sandwich maker?
A: Yes, but frozen meats or vegetables may require longer cooking times and could affect texture. Pre-cooking certain ingredients (like bacon or sausage) is recommended for best results. Avoid placing ice directly on the plates.
