After I’m done cooking I let the grates heat back up a little then dip this in cold water and when it hits the grates the steam effect just melts away left over food particles. I have used this on my flat griddle as well and did a great job. I’ve used it twice on my grill and once on my griddle and the thing looks like it hasn’t been used. They include an extra head but from what I’ve seen I can bet this one head will survive the entire summer and I cook a majority on my grill or griddle so it will get used. Customer Review: “After grilling steaks on July 4, I decided to throw away my old grill brush because the wire bristles were falling out! I purchased the GRILLART Grill Brush and Scraper that day, and it arrived on July 6. Last week I heated and cleaned my 5-burner natural gas grill in preparation for grilling carné asada. The GRILLART Grill Brush and Scraper did a great job and my cleaning was done very quickly. So, I decided to take some photos to document how amazing the GRILLART Grill Brush and Scraper truly is. The day after grilling 3 lbs of carné asada, I snapped photos of the carné asada residue. The first photo is a wide-angle shot of the residue on burners 1-3 (right to left). The second photo is a close up of the residue on main burner #1. Key points: 1) the 18-inch handle is perfect for keeping your hands away from the heat; 2) by rotating the GRILLART Grill Brush and Scraper 45° to the left or right, the three brushes (in one) are instrumental in cleaning any residue located on the side of the grates; and 3) using the scraper was instrumental in cleaning extra-baked-on residue. Customer Review: “This brush has a side with regular bristles, and a side with cable spiral like Kona. It includes a similar uggestion to use the spiral side wet.I have two ceramic grills. The large has a heavy cast iron grate and the small has a thin wire grate.The wire brush side of this device works as well as (or even better) than expected on both grate types. 1-2 strokes over each spot on the hot wire grate, or 2-4 strokes on the hot cast iron grate and all the crud drops into the fire. As the brush is small it works surprisingly better than brushes with a large square head but probably won’t last as long.The spiral side is disappointing. A small number of strokes, even when wet, gets few of the clingons to drop from the bottom/lower part of the grate into the fire. A large number of strokes doesn’t do much better. It works better on the wire grate than the cast iron grate. It still needs to be finished with a wire brush or a crumpled ball of foil in tongs. The bowl of water gets disgusting and becomes another dish that has to be cleaned. One of the key points of using a charcoal or propane grill is that the mess burns up in the fire instead of making nasty dishes that need to be washed.Thankfully this brush has both sides, and tells me I need to stock up on real brushes (which GrillArt still offers) before they get banned.Pros:- wire side works great- has both wire and spiral side.- The entire work head is metal so its not harmed by super hot grills (unfortunately many are now plastic).Cons:- spiral side very disappointing especially on heavy cast iron grate.If you aren’t sure you’ll like the spiral brush this is great eval product. If you like it you won’t use the bristle side and therefore won’t worry about getting bristles in food. If you hate it, you still have a bristle brush that should last a few seasons.”
