“I bought the plumbing kit for mine since I didn’t like having to refill it all the time. With that being said, I still clean the reservoir out every once in awhile. Mine’s next to the sink so I put the front portion of the maker over the sink and pull the drain plug. If you have the water line to it, just make sure the ice maker is off (better yet, unplug it) so it won’t fill when draining.It is a bit noisy when it’s making ice, but it’s fun to watch! Once it’s done making ice, the maker is virtually silent.The water that is dispensed is chilled, but not cold. But that’s the way I like it.We never turn ours off. If any ice melts, it drains into the reservoir and “recycles” the water.We even take some of the ice out and put it in the ice cube bin in the freezer.Aside from the noise, (it’s tolerable but does add noise to the kitchen) I really like this ice maker! I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it again.”

“Makes a lot of ice surprisingly fast. Can be used on counter or floor, but best raised off the floor a bit due to smaller size of unit. I connected it to a standard 1/4″ water valve, commonly used for refrigerator ice makers, but I had to go to Home Depot to purchase the inexpensive connector. You can also use jug water as an option. The unit does require a drain or you can use a bucket. Note that there is a clip included to secure the drain line for a leak-free connection. It needs to drain because there is no refrigeration and new ice is made as old ice melts. I ordered this as a replacement. it is so far superior to a refrigerator based icemaker that there is no comparison It continues to make ice with minimal maintenance superb design and many many useful features. It is insulated so it keeps the ice pretty much intact although it eventually thaws but there is always fresh ice. I ordered this and it didn’t work I talked to the company and they determined that the internal pump was bad. These pumps were backordered until October. I had bought the unit at the Amazon warehouse for a substantial discount. Rather than return it I requested that the company replace it and the company has sent me a brand-new icemaker! They are a delight to work with. They are truly a class act company and I would recommend any of their products without any hesitation.
